Born in Woolsthorpe, Lincolnshire, England. Premature, so small they said I could fit in a quart mug. My father died three months before I was born. In those two years of isolation, I invented calculus, discovered the laws of motion, proved white light is a spectrum of colors, and began formulating universal gravitation. The apple story is mostly true -- I watched one fall and asked why it fell straight down instead of sideways or up. Tip: Isolation is productive. The world distractions are the enemy of deep thought. Leibniz claims he invented calculus independently. Perhaps. I invented it first. My Principia Mathematica is the most important scientific book ever written.
