I also introduced Hindu-Arabic numerals to the Western world. Before me, Europeans were doing math with Roman numerals. Try dividing MCMXLII by XXVII. Exactly. You're welcome. I mapped the known world, calculated the circumference of the Earth, and wrote the book on algebra. Literally -- 'al-jabr' is from my book title.
